What do I need to use Lore?

To access your full iMessage history, Lore requires a Mac that is signed into your iMessage account. You can then view and share your created Lores on any device.

I want to scroll to the top of my imessage history. Can I do that?

Of course! You can disable AI features in Settings and use the app to simply browse your conversation history locally.

What do I get when I create a Lore?

You get a stunning, visual story of your conversation—like a highlight reel. It includes fun stats, key milestones, and a beautiful presentation of the moments that defined your connection, which you can save and share.

How does Lore actually work?

Lore reads your iMessage history directly from your Mac. When you generate a Lore or use AI features, excerpts from the conversation are sent through our secure relay to OpenAI, which creates the story. Our relay is stateless—we don't store or log any of your message content.

Is my data private and secure?

Yes. Your full message history stays on your Mac—we never copy or sync it to our servers. When you use AI features, only the relevant conversation excerpts are sent through our stateless relay to OpenAI. The data is encrypted in transit, processed once to generate your Lore, and not used to train AI models. If you want extra privacy, you can use your own OpenAI API key in Settings to bypass our relay entirely, or disable AI features to keep everything local.
